So what is best way to get factory junk out of car? Sound deadening crap and black gummy coating on floors? Also what should I use for paint?

Short of having it boiled and acid dipped (they do that up in Allentown) a heat gun and/or some strong solvents will do thge trick. It's a lot of work and you should wear a respirator if you are going to use any of the really good, carcinogenic stuff. Regular old Brakleen works to get off any residual tar coating that can't be scraped off.
A good quality automotive type paint would be best, but I have seen some nice interiors done with Rustoleum. I guess it is as good as the amount of work that you want to put into it.

It depends on what they used.....
Some cars heat is the answer...some dry ice is the answer. For Hondas I get a bunch of pellatized dry ice and dump that on, about 40 lbs or so does the trick. The stuff shrinks and flakes off.
For other cars this doesn't work and you have to heat it with a torch and scrape it off. This makes burning hot tar -- which you don't want to get on your hand (trust me!)
I've never tried either technique on an SC but I can guarantee that one of the two is the right solution!

For the heat approach I use a propane torch rather than a heat gun. Sometimes getting it to burn is key but be careful.

Here in Malvern there is a place called the Ice Butler that has it. Any ice supplier should have it.

The Genuardi's by me (Phoenixville) sells dry ice by the pound. However, it's in blocks, not pellets.

There is a post on the Pelican site where a guy uses s Frein(spell) tool. This is the one they advertise on TV, where it can scrape, cut, etc. And you can now get one from Harbor Freight for under $50. The poster shows pictures, and claims it was easy as pie.
