I have a strange problem lately.  When I go to start the car, it lurches forward, as if my foot was off the clutch.  Once warmed up, the problem goes away.

Any ideas?

Thanks so much.

I'd figure that if the car has been sitting for a long time, the clutch got stuck on the pressure plate, but breaks loose since the throw out bearing is taking the spring pressure.......... thus the lurching forward. You may try putting the shifter in the neutral position, but then putting it in gear, with the engine running, you may grind a few pounds. Is it possible that your clutch cable is old, stretched?:?

Is there any difference in feel now?  It could be that the disk is warped, or the lining has separated somewhere and when cold, creates enough friction to move the car.

Larry, that makes sense.  I was experiencing some grinding into gear even when warm.  Luckily, we need to drop the engine to replace my transmission seals, so I may as well replace the clutch disc at that time.  I am hoping to not have to replace the throw out bearing and the pressure plate.
