I am having a hard time finding racing tires that will fit my 1995 993 (205/50/17 front, 255/40/17 rear rear).  The BFG G-Force R-1 is available in 225/45/17 for the front.  Would that work?

Any other suggestions that would fit my car?

Thanks,

Larry

I think you should consider picking up a set of 18's.  With 8 or 8.5" fronts, 10 rears, a proper allignment, and maybe some mild fender rolling you can fit 245/35/18 up front and 285/30/18 in the rear of a 993.

More meat generally equals more stick. Big Grin

Thanks for the suggestion, but despite the acquisition of a roof rack (from a fellow RTR member) for my 993 to carry a set of slicks to the track, I am trying to limit the track-related expenses for my car (which is also my primary daily driver; the wheels for the slicks are the same ones I use for my winter snow tires), and therefore I'm not eager to invest in still another set of wheels, and possibly do some fender rolling, etc.  If it were a dedicated track car I'd almost certainly go the route you suggest.

Larry,

If the wheels are 8 or 8 1/2" the 225 will fit.  If the wheels are not at least 8" then no they will not fit.
