Nice Steve. Next time try both feet in, haha. At least mute out the sound when you have to restart her Tongue'

I love the sound of the Radical. Were you running the trakmate on? Can you post the track map with accel/braking zones for a hot lap?

I saw a lot of you guys taking the first turn (by Summit) all the way on the right -- is that really a faster line? I tried it and wasn't real happy with my exit speed.

I NEVER LOOKED AT THE DATA BUT TO THE RIGHT SEEMS TO WORK OK. IT ALLOWS A NICE APPROACH ANGLE INTO THE GRASS.

Darren,

I had my traqmate recording data as well. Unfortunately, I always take that inside line so I can't compare it with anything. However, I know that's an area where I gain considerably on folks that do not use that line.

I stab the brakes upon corner entry to get the car rotating, hope that I can keep it from rotating too far, and end up at full throttle by the apex.

I have some video I will attempt to post as well when I get home tonight.

Take care,
Jack

Here's some footage from the what I think is the same run group.

Darren, you can see how much I gain on Jim Z at the top of the esses by hugging the inside of the corner.  While I don't have any video of that happening at the end of the front straight, the same thing typically happens.

That line is very car specific as you have to be able to get the car to rotate at corner entry for it to work.  It happens to work for my 993, although you will see that the car rotate's just a bit too much at the top of the esses during one lap Smile

Jack

Yeah interesting, thanks Jack!  I don't think that would work out too well in the Acura but with the rear engine (and torque) I can see how fast it is.

The last few times I was at the Glen I was playing with a similar line through the toe of the boot with my 996.  Regardless if I took it tight or a more traditional line, I would exit at the same speed and get the same rpm by the corner worker.  All things equal I guess the shortest distance is faster!

I don't think it's torque that makes it work, cause that line worked really well with the RX-7 as well, and it has no torque at all.

I think it's all about the ability to get the car rotating.  The rotation get's the car pointed in the right direction and applying the power stops the rotation.  And as you said, you are travelling less overall distance.

Hey Jack,

You may want to edit your title of the vid.  You spelled clockwise without the "L".  Confusedhock:

Nice post.  Bummer I could not make Jefferson.
