- Marty Kocse - 07-17-2007 Nick, Keep up the great work reporting the status of the track to the membership. As I'm sure we all are very interested in the progress. I plan on trying to stop down at some point to check it all out. Thanks, Marty - Phokaioglaukos - 07-17-2007 Thanks, Nick! - Nick - 07-17-2007 Moving Earth - Nick - 07-17-2007 birds eye - Nick - 07-17-2007 1 more - dmano - 07-17-2007 Nick wrote: Quote:The earthmovers are busy. You can see Light Bulb turn and today they are cutting out the straight away. In the next few weeks, a ground breaking ceremony will be announced and held on 9/19/07. Current plan is to begin laying pavement in Oct or Nov provided it doesn't snow on Halloween and a Native American burial ground isn’t uncovered at start/finish. With a mild winter and a 6 month cure time, the entire track can be open in the summer of 2008. How about the club doing a trip down to the ceremony to show our support of the track and the town. Would be good PR for the club and the track. What do you think father Minkin - smankow - 07-17-2007 Dave, you must have been reading my mind. I'd be interested in going down. It's only a short sprint from the City. Also, have we thought about having someone from the track come to a meeting to talk about the progress, design changes, openings, etc.? - Phokaioglaukos - 07-17-2007 9/19 is a Wednesday, so I'd go if the ceremony is after 5 pm or so. - dmano - 07-17-2007 I think I may go down in a few weeks to go do some dirt riding, I see some great jumps calling my name. Then again maybe I'll change the donuts on the Camino and go do some dirt trackin. Do we have a person that goes to the meetings? - smankow - 07-17-2007 Nick Hatalski, an RTR Past President, has been our eyes and ears at Thunderbolt. He lives in the area and is a member of their Green Flag Committee. |
