- larrybard - 04-07-2009 Larry ≠ masochist - KennyB - 04-07-2009 Larry, For those of us who have not stayed at the SL, care to share your concerns? I had a very good dinner in the restaurant, but have not lodged there. I'll be at the Falls again, but wouldn't mind going to the Lodge for dinner/beer. (Man, enough qualifications? Does that make me sound like a lawyer? Maybe I just should have written YMMV.) Anyway, my now dim recollection is that the room (in what I believe they refer to as the "motel" section) was many years past its prime - not even what one could by any stretch characterize as something like "comfortably worn" -- and, worst of all, not only was the air conditioning pretty inadequate (even by my low standards) but a smell of mildew permeated almost everything. Sort of place that prompted me to immediately launder all my clothes -- regardless of whether they had been worn on the trip -- when I got home. Just looked at TripAdvisor (a source I frequently consult and usually find reliable), and many reviews there are consistent with my what I recollect. - George3 - 04-08-2009 Larry, Is that what they refer to as "rustic" ?? - bobt993 - 04-08-2009 The "Dank Hotel" as we named it. That has actually been improved Larry, but it was pretty bad at one point. - larrybard - 04-08-2009 bobt993 wrote: Quote:. . . it was pretty bad at one point. The point at which I stayed there might well have been its low point. (Maybe the low point for its reputation, based primarily on my staying there. ) |
