Maybe running a few laps on a simulator would be more helpful than watching video.

Anyone out there near Villanova willing to let me try one of these things out?

I am not too far from you and you are welcome to shoot the bull with a glass of wine or a couple of beers, but unfortunately I don't have any of those games. The last game I bought was one of the 'GAME BOY" things for one of my daughters............... about 20 some years ago?? Sad:dude::dude:

I haven't used it in a year or so, ...and it's pretty old by now, but I really like "Grand Prix Legends".  It is truly a simulation, not a game.  Therefore, my son hates it.

Unfortunately, the 1967 GP cars are a bitch to drive.   Light cars, too much horsepower,  and skinny tires.  The best part (of course) is the sound.  I actually bought a set of Klipsch computer speakers to get the full effect.  The only track we see is the short Watkins Glen course.  Going into the Loop without the Bus Stop is creepy, even on a computer.

You can borrow it if you like.  I'm in Paoli.

I forgot, they released a GT version of GPL called "GT Legends" in 2005.  Based upon this training video, I think I'll buy it:

In the real game, there is no voice.  In this video, a guy took one of his better laps of the Nurburgring and added instructions.  It's the virtual version of DE.

Now, all we need is a RIESENTOTER DE at the Nurburgring.............Confusedhock:CoolCool

That's fun, but the elevation changes are not at all accurate--the track is not as flat as it looks in this animation!

I know you do not get the real feal of pulling g's, etc. but Forza motorsports for XBOX, Playstation, etc., does apply the actual car's characteristics to its performance, including modifications.  Assuming the tracks you seek to run are on the software, it would at least give you an idea what the track is like.

speaking of how realisitic online racing can be, check out this video from an online Forza 3 race

You can even get berated publicly for poor online drivingSmile

I've got forza and Need for Speed Shift. They are both pretty good. Only problem is when my nephews come over and kick my ass on them. They are already learning to talk smack at 10!

All of the games have "artifacts" that are ways to go faster than you'd be able to in real life in certain situations. The games can be frustrating if you play against someone who knows all of the tricks.

I like Forza 3 a lot and the graphics are much better than any of the other console games. I really like how many real race cars are in the game that you can drive, very cool.

I did a quick write-up on GTR2 on the forum here a couple of years back:

I'd like to do that again. It looks like I did that Jan 6th, 2008, and I'll probably try to do it around the same time this January.
