- AMoore - 01-05-2010 It is my understanding that removable hard tops are permitted although I don't know why since you might as well be protected by an egg shell. I would not drive a convertible at a DE without roll bar protection. Interestingly, at Lightning earlier this year, I saw a few convertibles without roll bars or hard tops. I specifically recall a Nissan 350Z. I realize that new convertibles have pop up roll bars that activate if the car rolls, but I was under the impression that this was not acceptable for DE. Kerbeck currently has a 2005 Corvette convertible with Z-51 package for less than $26K. I would consider purchasing if it were not a convertible. Aaron - betegh9 - 01-05-2010 Brian! Darren is right. Learn to drive the car as is. It is much more car than you can handle. Enjoy the top down on a cruise and bring it to autocross and DE to really learn to drive it. Fast drivers are fast in anything with 4 wheels, slow drivers always need more power.
