- jimsanl8apex - 09-25-2010 Thanks Marty. Zip is up and running again. It turned out to be a broken spring for the oil separator. It flooded the intake with oil and then almost hydrolocked the engine. By the grace of God, I shut the engine off in time. Many thanks to all who followed up to see how we faired. I'm done with DE for the year thanks to Pocono. It's been pretty rough on the car this year. First the rear main seal, clutch, and now oil separator. Talk about snake bit. - KennyB - 09-26-2010 Jim, You can't be done with DE yet. We still have MAW in Oct. Your car should be ready to go now that you've fixed all the little annoyances. Even if you don't drive, hope you can make it to the dinner/auction. - emayer - 09-26-2010 Awesome news on Zip. Whew. I can't blame you for wanting to take it easy after that experience. I wonder what weapons you'll have in store for us next year Mr. Bond! Thanks having the guys at Knopf clean the R8 so well. It was a bit dirty last week - jimsanl8apex - 09-27-2010 Thanks for the encouragement Ken. It's like crack for an addict. I would love to come for the party, but by the time I get out of work on Saturday, it would be too late. My only option is to wake up at 4 AM and drive down to Tech by 7:00 on Sunday. Yikes! I still don't know if I did any long term damage to my engine. Not out of the question. Anyone with a trailer as a backup ? I am still considering maybe doing the one day. I love Thunderbolt. Great track! - jimsanl8apex - 09-27-2010 Hi Eric, I'm working on the marbles in the tailpipe option for my "Bond" car, since the oil smoke didn't finish you off. |
