I think I'll skip paying Mr. Bush this year and just give ALL of my $$$ to Bill Dougherty......at this rate.

... no, the idea is to have a refund. Wink

Okay, I put a route together this morning and I'd like to get feedback.

I've planned a roundtrip starting/finishing in Lambertville, NJ.

The loop is 72 miles. Is this too long?

It doesn't feel too bad to me, as most of the roads should be quiet and fast, but it's worth checking.

Right now I have a rest stop built in at Lake Nockamixon (42 miles in).

I have not yet found a place for lunch and will have to build something in. The timing and location of lunch will depends on how it looks when I'm driving it (unless someone has a good suggestion).

Anyway, I would love to get feedback.

Thanks!

I've heard that there are quite a few good restaurants in Lambertville, including a Brew Pub Big Grin

There are, but I've a feeling that neither breakfast nor lunch would be good for sit-down considering the number of cars that have shown an interest in coming out for this.

When I do the test drive I'll see if I can find something long the way for lunch that would work.

You are correct - sit down is a bad idea.

72 miles is good. Long enough to clean out the motor but not too long to have the significant other upset.

Great idea and thanks for organizing.

Thanks Tony. This has actually been fun to organize, especially with the enthusiasm shown from various places wanting to make it happen.

I'll do a test drive of the route in a couple of weeks and see what timing looks like and decide if we need to stop for lunch, or have people do lunch at the end in New Hope.

What do you think of the single rest stop at Lake Nockamixon, will that work, or should I have another option planned into the route?

Very nice park as a rest stop. They have some large spots that might be good for photos. Check w/ the park ranger to make sure the lot you pick has rest rooms that will be OPEN.

Good point. I hadn't thought of that! I basically chose the largest lot that I could see on the map.

I'm really happy with the route, as it looks like a lot of fun. I can't wait to drive it in a couple of weeks... probably week after next I'll take a look.

I was pleased to read that River Road opened up the last of the damaged bridges in October, so as long as we don't get any more bad floods we should be okay. Smile

After you check out the route 1st hand, I could run in with you before the event and you drive the ole lady (if the salt is off the roads).
