Wow, it is really easy to edit the quotes. Too easy, I must say.

It is too easy to comment here. Tony, do you like longer or shorter sessions?

Breathing? I have some in-car dv somewhere of my wife saying "oh shit, oh shit, oh shit!" Or maybe it was me. Oh well, didn't roll, so no harm no foul.

Any instructor who gripes when you get wheels dirty shoudn't be in the job. Tongue

Intercoms seem a lot more important in cars with  loud exhaust, no sound deadening material ect. My instructors in the past have used them and in my car that was quiet, it was not necessary and in fact it can be very distracting when the volume is set too loud. When  I went for a ride in loud cars it was a great help. The units that I have experience chatter boxes.

I purchased the Terratrip Terraphone Intercoms.  I’m sure that it’s a great intercom for rally use.  The microphones and speakers (two per helmet) appear to be high quality.  All three should be velcro’ed in each helmet.  Their cables are coiled (a good thing) and use large headphone jacks (another good thing).  The main unit is 5?x3?x2?, a compact size to be mounted in a car, but a little bulky for an Instructor to carry from car to car.  The unit requires a 12 volt power source so there are no AAA batteries to replace.  I am in the process of adding a cigarette lighter adapter to the power cord.

Having a student with this device mounted in her car with the speakers and mic mounted in her helmet would be a dream come true.  Carrying the unit from car to car, plugging it in the lighter and fishing the wires through her helmet is less desirable.

I used the Terratrip Terraphone Intercom to instruct DE at Shenandoah Circuit.  It worked great after I made 3 modifications:

1.      Added cigarette adapter for portability.

2.      Added a ¼? headphone plug to my Nandy MO-1 Headset.  I use this for the student because it’s easy to put in and take out of a helmet.

3.      Add a leather carrying strap to the main unit.

This may seem like too much work for some folks but I am pleased with the result.

The Terratrip Terraphone Intercom worked great all season.  I'm now ready to purchase something more expensive.  If anyone wants to purchase this system, please send me a message.
