RE: Autocross Cup #2: Philly SCCA Warminster - Turbo215 - 05-13-2018 Hey guys quick question(s): do i have to pay for each event i plan to attend for the rtr cup series? Or can i just become a scca member for the year? I like totally screwed up wat i was supposed to join the last time. Would there be the same rtr class in all the events? You get your first Autocross for free from RTR(limit of one per lifetime). E-Mail Dave (Autocross@RTR-PCA.org) to get reimbursed. 2. You can join SCCA and get a $5-$10 discount per event, but you still have to pay for the events. 3. We only have the RTR class at the Philly SCCA events, all other events we go by our car classes so we can try to win trophies! RE: Autocross Cup #2: Philly SCCA Warminster - SomebodyDial911 - 05-15-2018 WRT #2, please note that the SCCA member discount applies at SCCA AX events, but not all events included in the Riesentoter Autocross Cup Series are SCCA events (we go to events hosted by Philly SCCA, Central PA PCA, NNJR PCA, NNJR SCCA, Brandywine Motorsports Club, and Lancaster County Corvette Club, among others). Thank you for the additional information. I was planning on just paying the yearly membership for the scca but if the cup events aren't all scca events then what do you suggest for me to do save a couple bux? Also, any of you guys could lead me in the right direction as far as spirited driving type of alignments in the ner by philly area? Lol Is this Dan? I joined the SCCA this year to get both the SCCA Member discount but to also get more seat time in between the RTR events. RE: Autocross Cup #2: Philly SCCA Warminster - SomebodyDial911 - 05-17-2018 OT, Yeah, this is Dan. To Don's point, it really depends on which events you plan to attend. I don't have an SCCA membership because I only go to a few SCCA events per year (as part of the RTR cup series). That said, there is nothing from preventing you from going to other SCCA events and leveraging a membership to get discounts throughout the year. Whether that makes financial sense really depends on how many events you attend. I just pay the full fee for every event, but take advantage of the early bird online discounts, of course. With regard to your question about alignment, there are a number of great shops in the area. I use Performance Automotive in Malvern. Pete and Paul are great at what they do and do a lot of work for RTR members. Dougherty Automotive in West Chester is another good one, and I've used them for some things in the past as well. Any Porsche dealer can also set you up with an aggressive alignment. That said, you will be pretty limited with your stock suspension. You will need GT3 lower control arms to get meaningfully negative camber (your front wheels will max out at ~-1.3 degrees w/ stock suspension components). 996 GT3 lower control arms will work on your 997 CS, and are a little cheaper to acquire than the 997 equivalents. I wouldn't worry about getting crazy w/ alignment just yet. The most important performance enhancement you can make is the driver. I would suggest giving it at least one season before you start making meaningful adjustments to alignment, tires, etc. It will give you a better chance to test and feel the limits of the car, and you can use tire pressure adjustments to firm up or loosen either end of the car. Id like to get more seat time for sure So i think that'll be my best bet, to pay full membership and then pay for the early discounts for rtr series. The reason why i ask for alignments is because it seems like my camber seems off on my front end. Looking at fender gaps and distances something is off. So I figure i ask the experts "u guys" for legitimate advice. Driver enhancements r a must lol. Definitely a case for me. Perhaps i can pick the brains of you guys as time goes by if you guys dont mind. Im definitely doing autoX on the 3rd and i plan to do the D.E event at njmp on the 22nd. Hope all is well with you guys. |
