want to name the site?
as i said in another post, with 1300 members we should be able to get 60 to turn out for an event.... we just have to figure out a way to do it.
Imagine how impressive it would look even a small fraction of our membership turn out for an event!

Not wanting to sound terse, but, being a typical American town I see several parking lots on the map. I'm not really into playing games looking at a map of a town I don't know.
If you want people to take notice, then you might want to get a tad more specific about which facilty you're referring to, who they might contact and the fees associated with using the facility.

Allright!!
The facility is the Unysis complex adjacent to Township line Rd. The place has 3 large lots where only part of one is being used at any given time. I was there on a Saturday and Security said that the facilities manager would only be available during the week.
I don't know what it takes today to secure a parking lot where weeds are begining to take over, but I would sudgest the AX chair to start negotiating with Unysis TODAY and maybe by Spring something can happen,

It will be worth checking out the viability and condition of the course once we get our new track chair in place. Did you get the name of the person we needed to contact?

IMHO, I think the make or break thing is the lot. A really nice lot will do much to advance the program. What are the objectives? To get RTR members to come out? Is it to make money on autocrosses? Is it to attract Porsche drivers from other regions to compete against? Is it to learn better driving skills for the street?

The clubs objectives for AX all everything you have listed exept to make money on AX. All we are trying to do is break even on running these events. So just as the quality of the site is inportant so is the costs. We have been offered other sites over the last several years but the lot rentals where to high given the number of drivers we would expect to turnout. Even 60 or 70 would still mean a $50 per car charge and that seems to be a big deterent in getting members out for AX.

You have a pretty good grasp of all aspects of AX and I have a lot of respect for your ideas.
If you were running the program, what would you suggest? Do you know of any appropriate locations that we might be able to afford that might bring out the membership?
I tend to agree with the principle of location, location, location. You seem to me to be the key to us getting access to a nice, large location in good condition and I'm all ears.
I've said this before and I'll say it again, we need a strategy to make a change. It seems to me that there are several of us here that are willing to help the next AX chair, but we need to work out a plan for changing the status quo, before we get to the point where we become irrelevant. Brian has good insight into the problems of the past - maybe we need to learn from what has not worked and try something new.

Sorry, no contact name, but I'm sure that security will tell us who thet person is and when is the best time to reach him/her. I believe that this contact person will have to go higher up to get final approval. Our club will have to be ready to show how good, well behaved bunch we are and present the ordinary certificates of insurance from PCA. Oh! All registered drivers(cars) will have to pass a sound test to make sure we don't piss off the residential neighbors.

Not only are sound test challenging the AX crowd, now the neighbors of AX sites complain about the squeeling tires as well and course designers are being challenged with laying out a course where the tires dont squeel.
