Eric,  2008 rules just saw a major shuffle in PCA.  I do not think Donna Amico will want to contemplate anymore class changes for sometime.  She may move the 944 turbo cup, but with the effort just put forth I think a break is in order.  Yes, for stock class cars, you can run your first 4 races with a roll bar, but must change to a cage after completing 4 races.  With the current schedule that is one race weekend (2 sprints, 1 enduro).  Next event puts you over the limit.

The interesting thing is that this basically means that you can't have a race car that you also drive on the street because you have to have a cage.

At this point they need to get rid of the stock class rules like carpet, a/c, etc....its all just silly.

They are...... sort of.............   You can remove carpet now and stock door panels to allow for the cage.   You can remove the heater box from the 993, but must leave the AC compressor bolted to the car. :?

I took a chance the heater blower and deleted mine while the engine was out.

I think that we are overly worried about weight at our driving level.  I just ran the fastest times I ever have at Summit Point in this car, even allowing for the increased grip, with a 250 lb passenger in the right seat.  Go figure.

hi guys.

the Probe and i are about 3/4 of a second faster per lap with the 150 lbs of lead removed from the car.

that is with me pressing HARD, and leaving very little on the table.  (both with and without ballast)

(2580 lbs with driver vs 2730 lbs with driver;  when i am properly ballasted up for PTE class).

i can very definitely feel the difference in the car;  most especially in braking and in the way the  car initially turns in and makes for the apex.

the year before last, when i was  running the Civic in H1 class, i had to be ballasted up to 2400 lbs.  now that i am 'unlimiting' it, i run at about 2200 lbs.  it is an AMAZING difference, the way that it feels and drives, minus the 200 lbs.  i can't give lap time comparisons with the Honda, because i changed so many things......

just my input!

happy Thanksgiving, guys!

PS  i am heading down to Summit for the Turkey bowl races this weekend  -- i'm going to stretch the Probe's legs for the last time this year!!!  (minus the ballast!!!  ha!)
