Imagine what that must have felt like though. hock: - delanckc - 07-16-2009 Darren, I assume DE guys would be squeezed in between wheel to wheel and time trialers. Something along the lines of... DE guys = Serious need for high rate of speed but too scared to make passes in the corners that might scratch their paint jobs. A schizophrenic group: Sometimes committing car to the track/sometimes afraid to bastardize a perfectly fine car for the sake of higher speed. Looks down on time trialers as though they are posers. Magazines: Excellence Women: Attractive, willing to give up husbands for the weekend and watch the kids with minimal objections; large portfolio an added attraction. Can adjust to the sight of a trailer in the backyard. At the VIR club race a few weeks ago we ran an advanced DE group with 52 cars and very few limitations on passing. Since extended passing was not yet approved by the PCA board the only restriction we had was no two cars side by side at the apex of a corner. Other then that pass anywhere on the track with a passing signal. Once the drivers got used to giving passing signals in " a perceived straight" traffic became a non problem. At Parade the PCA board approved extended passing and at the RTR Thunderbolt advanced day it was implemented in the fast group. After doing a couple of laps with cars side by side around the entire track at a somewhat reduced speed this group allowed passing anywhere on the track including two cars side by side at the apex of a turn. Passing signals are still required. I think all the drivers enjoyed this new found freedom to give and take passes anywhere they are comfortable doing so. It certainly gave late passes a whole new dimension. - Darren - 07-16-2009 bobt993 wrote: Quote:In Darren's case this means a complete engine laying on the kitchen table. Never mind the two cars in the back yard!!Hey! I represent that! I mean resent...I think... Anway, sorry Kevin, TT is above DE because it's competition. It's also passing anywhere with no signal, as Bob says. In practice, EVERYONE gives point by's! For guys like you though, you can run NASA DE and do TT in the same event and just get that much more track time. If you happen to do well at TT then you can win free tires! - MikeKling - 07-18-2009 We did have a several track guys from other regions. I met the Director of Education for the Wilmington School District, a doctor from Chesapeake region and an accountant from Hershey. So to sum up, PCA was well represented. We had a DE from DE, an MD from MD and a CPA from CPA who all enjoy DE, but ran an AX with RTR to support ALS. And of course we need to thank Steve McMorn, our PhD from the UK and V! I have to go now my CAPS SHIFT key is smoking and I'm getting dizzy. Mike |
