George ,  just buy a can of WD80...........   I recall looking at Tom's splitter repair and remarking that I thought it was a bad idea.  I gave it 1/2 a lap or the first time he exceeds 80mph.   There should have been an over/under on the outcome.

WD-80.................. THAT'S BRILLIANT !!!!

Or, is that from a beer commercial??

I was just reading an article in Vintage Racecar magazine, which discussed the enforcement of certain safety devices in Vintage racing.  Seems like the Americans are really gung-ho, as Hans devices will be required as of August 2009.  In England, on the other hand, this will not be the case.  Actually, they will allow for one to race without seat belts if the car was manufactured without them.

I think that coming from a motorcycle background, I would tend to agree with the English on this one.  Compared to a motorcycle, a car is so much safer that the addition of multiple safety devices may be considered overkill.

In the end, an indvidual must select the degree of risk which is appropriate to him or her.

I'll never forget when we were in Germany and went to an open track day at Hockenheimring.  We had brought our helmets and the German locals were pointing at us and laughing!

Darren:  I didn't want to come rght out and say it, but I am more like the Germans than like an American. Big Grin

I am scared every time I get on the track particularly on the long straight ways.  Maybe because I only got a 3 point belt system.  As soon as the DefNder comes out with an accessory for use with 3 point belts, I am getting one.

It couldn't have been Tom's spoiler because I watched it explode and disintegrate right in front of me in the Lightbulb. Very dramatic.

Lightbulb makes more sense where the downforce would start to build.
