Unusual but fun trip down to Delaware PCA today for their AX in Glasgow. Good turnout this morning at the Wawa including Mike, Vee, Jim, (old) Rob, Stephan, new Jeff and Chuck (... even though as the organizer, I went to the wrong Wawa in Pa, rather than DE!)

When we got there, the lot was "pretty small," the course was purely first gear and consisted of 3 x 20s loops -- this was great for the new guys who didn't have to worry about getting lost but was a bit too easy for the more experienced folks. After the am session was done, it was unbelievably hot so we decided to protect the safety of our group by honorably retiring to the pub for some shade and liquid refreshment ..... even though I was FTD at that point but hey, as AX Chair, I gotta look after the health and well being of my guys!

Good time in the bar with beer and steak all round (including Joe Asher & Kid arriving) with no milkshakes in sight!

Only slight disappointment was that Hugh wasn't able to join us today for his first RTR AX :-) hahahaha

Next RTR AX is Sunday 27 SEP 09 with Central PCA at Hershey

Cheers
Steve McMorn
2010 AX Chair

Steve & Crew,  you mentioned Hugh's name...  I understand that he is running for the A/X position in 2010...  I have not noticed him at a RTR A/X event this year, does he run & /or volunteer at any of our autocross events?

Delaware PCA has the same problem as everyone else; finding a good lot.  They do the best they can with what they've got.  Thanks for hosting.  Great to see the RTR members new and old there (Jim, Rob, Jeff, Dale, Stefan, Chuck, Mike, and Steve).  Good RTR turnout.  No Hugh though.

I wish to clarify why Hugh McNenly is running for the AX Chair on the 2010 slate of officers. The current AX Chair and his choice for his successor have positioned themselves as only wishing to hold the position if a particular individual is elected president. What makes this club go is the volunteer efforts of individuals that commit to administering a program that they take responsibility for regardless of who else is on the exec. Rather then have the position not filled and the AX program fade into history the nominating committee reached out to individuals that have expressed interest in volunteering their time and effort to bring the club programs that benefit the membership. Hugh has expressed for several years his interest in volunteering his time and effort to benefit the members of the club. Despite the fact that he has not participated in the AX program previously he is committed to seeing that the program is continued in 2010 regardless of who is elected president. It is volunteers like this that make this club successful. Politics do not play into Hugh's desire to serve the club.

No spin...only the truth. Sad
