- Darren - 06-12-2008 Yeah not on a street car...I think they probably mean more rear brake bias than most street cars. Porsche lawyers are why we don't have enough factory front camber, they try to make the car push, so rear bias makes no sense. The real indication of PSM acting in this fashion is that you will likey see the left and right rear pads wearing differently. That side to side wear is a clear indication of PSM because you can't do that with the pedal. IMHO, it's not so much the traction control/pseudo LSD aspect of the PSM but the stability feature that causes this wear. PSM also uses the throttle, so it won't let you put so much power to the wheels that it has to use the brakes, it can just reduce the throttle. Don't believe me? Try dragging the brake whilest accellerating, PSM with cut the throttle. - catchacab - 06-14-2008 August 2008 Excellence, "The Mild Side, a mildly modified 997 GT3" by Ian Kuah. Page 156. ""The brakes were so rear-biased that they were overheating," explains Kutyba." - Larry Herman - 06-14-2008 There is still no context here. How did it occur, on the street, on the track, who was driving, what? And just because it was written in Excellence doesn't mean that it can't be wrong. I know plenty of people who track their 997 GT3s with no brake issues whatsoever. Just ask Terry Lefco sometime. - catchacab - 06-15-2008 Larry, Because Excellence does not like when people post their articles or text online even in a forum (copyright issues) I cannot place more text here. The way it was written it seemed that they were generalizing about the factory brake setup. They also stated that they changed to undercarriage trays to Cup trays and changed the brake cooling ducts to improve cooling to the rear brakes. Read the article for more info, if you don't have a subscription, PM me, and you can have mine. Although, there is a good amount of information in the magazine, I do agree that there is a lot of fanboyism in Excellence. |
