He must have been confused by all the refueling and other gear filling the area where DEs grid, and then drove past the cones and the big sign that says "Hot Pit Pass Required! No one under 18 permitted."

Good thing there was not a car pitting on top of him.

One of the photographers at Jefferson had a website.  Does anyone remember the URL?  Thanks.

Here's a closer view.... Note the absence of the required SCCA Club Racing sticker on the rear. No wonder they didn't let him on the track.

my team leader here at the shop is the crew chief for the #82 Mercedes Benz 190. His crew was pitted right next to the fuel pumps on pit lane. He was telling me there was a BMW M3 that was in the race and the driver had pulled all the way down pit lane pulled around to the right at the end of pit lane and drove up to the gas pumps. His crew had ran up to the car, one guy pulled out his credit card, put it in the machine and was pumping gas while the other crew member was standing there with the fire extinguisher while the car was being refueled. Apparently there was a rule that required driver change during a refueling pit stop and that team wanted to keep the same driver in the car. I know you have to get the car refilled but that must have been really funny to watch.
