- Wellardmac - 04-07-2007 Whoo-hoo! Tony, I think that you might have fun bringing along the 356... I think that this route is nicely suited to her temperament... she will handle the curves really well. ...as I said, by the end my wife was feeling a little motion sick, so I'm guessing that's a metric of good road selection. - Sechsgang - 04-07-2007 so, from say KOP, how far is the meeting spot and who wants to meet at KOP to go there? - Wellardmac - 04-07-2007 From KOP? I have no clue... I know that my place in Doylestown is around 45 mins from KOP and Lambertville is around 25 mins from me, but that doesn't assume the fastest route. Did you use the Google maps link in my post? Personally, I think Yahoo is more accurate, but you can try both and see which route that you like. Both tend to be fairly accurate in terms of time and distance. - Sechsgang - 04-07-2007 thats not bad...ill work it out...i just didnt know if it was like...hours away or something...(like a meet in Edgewater, NJ...which was a bit farther away...haha) - Wellardmac - 04-07-2007 No, we deliberately chose a meeting place that would allow people from PA and NJ to meet in the middle for a drive. Hopefully it will work out. ... As I said in a previous post, those navigators with a sensitive stomach might want to preemptively take some dramamine, as my wife was starting to get queezy towards the end of the drive... and that was without me pushing the speed and bends as much as I normally would. My plan is to get there around 7am to be ready to marshal people (and have a coffee before people start to arrive) - Tony356993 - 04-08-2007 mac, you might need to be there a bit earlier. years ago i organized a few of these and some folks arrive too early and need guidance. more importantly there is the time required to have everyone sign the waiver and for you (and the organizers) to answer the same questions over and over again. As people sign the waiver, there should be a little q/a sheet with the info you have posted here and on rl (which most people will NOT read) i.e. do you have enough gas!!!!! if the early birds are all handled early, the 25% of the folks that will come at the last minute (or be late if they are from nj or ny ) will be easier to handle. i'll be at the lot early to assist if you need it............as long as it does not conflict with my photographics duties. can't wait. - Wellardmac - 04-08-2007 Thanks Tony - nice ideas. Yeah, I've gotta figure out how to organize everyone and get all the photos in, so having help will be great. One of the things that occurred to me yeaterday is that we'll be okay with this drive as long as people don't bunch up... with the curvy roads we cannot have people sitting ontop of eachother, as that's a hazard if someone has to make an abrupt stop. - Tony356993 - 04-08-2007 It is the onus of the following car to maintain the proper distance. It would be another item to put on the q/a paper distributed at "registration". I just hope you 911 guys do not hold me up in my momentum car. - Wellardmac - 04-08-2007 ...is a "momentum car" also known as "Hamster Powered" BTW, I noticed that the New Hope Best Western has gone private - did you have any issues with your reservation? You might want to confirm that all is still in order. - Tony356993 - 04-08-2007 i will call them thanks |
