Spring Fling: Saturday April 19th 2008
Lambertville, NJ

A spirited drive along the Delaware River and through the quiet back-roads of Eastern PA. Come equipped with a camera, your Porsche and ready for a ride to blow the winter cobwebs off your car.

Meeting point:
Lambertville Municipal Court
25 S Union St, Lambertville, NJ 08530

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=25+S+Union+St,+Lambertville,+NJ+08530&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=88.425197,98.789063&ie=UTF8&z=16&iwloc=addr&om=0

Arrive: 7:15 to 7:45am
Driver's Meeting 7:45am
Depart: 8am Sharp!

Suggestions on logistics:
i) Arrive with a full tank of gas. There are two gas stations in Lambertville, that are at the intersection of Bridge St and Rte 29 - they also have rest rooms.
ii) If you have 2 way radios, bring them, as we'll have them and can all tune into the same channel.
iii) Arriving early is good. Looks like we'll have a good turnout, so getting there early gives you time to grab a coffee and donut from the coffee shop around the corner on Bridge street and stand around talking with others and admiring the cars. I aim to be there nice and early.
iv) bring a camera and take lots of photos. I think I'll also be rigging my camcorder into the car to enjoy the ride.
v) If you have a map that covers upper bucks county, PA, then it will not hurt to bring it. The directions we've pulled together (I think) are pretty good, but on the off-chance that you get separated it will be good to have members of the group with maps.
vii) Depending upon final numbers we may split the group into two and have them run in opposite directions in order to allow for less bunching and a more enjoyable ride.
viii) The route is designed with fast stretches, as well as slower (curvy) fun stretches. These speed differences will naturally spread out the group and allow you space to have fun. The run can be done without a navigator if you stay close to a car with a navigator, but it's best to have someone in the car directing, as I'd hate to see anyone get lost.
ix) The PCA is kindly sponsoring this run, but we will also have guests joining us from Rennlist, so please come and find me (you know the car by now) when you arrive and sign in. This will get you a copy of the route and have you sign a PCA waiver that covers the organizers in case something bad happens.
x) Have fun, but be careful with your speed until we get out of Lamberville. It is a 25 mph zone until we get out of town and the police do sit there with radar - don't worry, we'll be out of town in a few minutes and I'd hate for us to get a police escort up to the NJ border.

My hope is that we get in and out of Lambertville before we attract too much attention.

We will be in and out of Lambertville in less than 1 hour.

As for passing opportunities - pass where it's legal and safe. The route has plenty of passing opportunities.

Count me in, Wayne.

Glad to have you along John.

The response has been good, so April 19th is the date and I've updated my first post in the thread.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again!

I would luv to join you once you hit PA, do you have the route mapped out?

- Wellardmac - 02-14-2008

Yup, the route is set and most of the drive is in PA. We're meeting across the border in lambertville for convenience.

Cool! I'm in shock! It will be great to have you there.

As I said before, I don't know how many drives I'll be able to organize this season - all depends on how long it is before I lose my navigator.... we have to enjoy each one like it might be the last (at least until i can find another navigator). Smile

Sounds like a great ride.  Never did one before.  Besides showing up on time, anything else necessary?

- Wellardmac - 03-18-2008

Glad to have you along!

I've modified the first post in this thread to contain the information on the drive and a few tips for first time attendees - We look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks!
