Although the outside  is in relatively good shape I am contemplating havng it replaced mainly due to the inside fraying and the slightly yellowed rear window.  Any recomendations out there for a good convetible top guy?

Bill sometimes a simple coat of wax on both sides will do the trick for the rear window. Have you tried that yet? Don't have any suggestions for anyplace up there to address the canvas.

There is a little shop in Willow Grow that does great work on convertible tops, a lot of dealer's even outsource their work there.  Had my transmission/windings rebuilt there...Can't find the business card at the moment...they are in a little industrial complex right off of 611 and the turnpike...I'll keep looking for that card.

I have dealt with both shops on several occasions and have found them to do high quality work at very reasonable prices. Be sure to mention my name and that you're a PCA member. Good luck!

A convertible tops should be kept as clean as possible, especially during the warm months when it will be raised and lowered frequently. Deposits from birds should always be removed immediately, as they are highly acidic, and they can damage the top. Rinsing the top with water on a regular basis or whenever the car is washed is often enough to keep the top in goodcondition, but at least twice a year, the top should be washed with a cleaning product designed for convertible tops. Washing should be done in the shade, starting with a rinse and then an application of the cleaner. A soft brush or sponge can be used to gently scrub the top before rinsing it clean.

I had work done a few years ago at Willow Grove Auto Top. This was about 5 years ago and they did a very nice job at a reasonable price. However, I have heard (but can't substantiate) that ownership has changed a few times since then, and that the work may not be quite as good as it once was.

Another option is J&J Seat Cover, 4901 Levick Street, Philadelphia, PA 19135. Ask for Ed.  He does a lot of upholstery work for me (on my exam tables)... but he is a car enthusiast and tells me that convertible tops are something that they do as well.  Great guy and very detail oriented (prices have been very reasonable on all the work I've given him).  Might give them a holler as well.
