A PCA Spec Boxster build should be $25-30,000, and the spec has been set. The 2.5 liter first generation car is used.

Have you seen one at a race this year?

Glen tells me there were three at the recent Thunderbolt PCA club race.

Who here is interested?

You buy, I will help you drive it!!! Wink

Look at the Boxster for sale down below.  51K on the clock and only $12k.

I can promise you that it is not possible to race a newer Porsche for less.

Bob - You buy, and I will drive. Smile

Rules here:  http://www.boxsterspec.com/index.php?autocom=downloads&showfile=19

Donor cars can be had for as low as $9K

Build will cost between $10K - $20K depending on configuration, cage, and how much you do yourself.

Ready-to-Race cars are selling for $28K - $35K

I think a spec miata can cost almost $20,000

In racing it isn't the speed of the respective car, but the competition.

For those who do DE, think of your favorite run. Was it the run when no one passed you, and you passed and possibly lapped every car on the track, or was it the run when you and one or two other cars were passing back and forth?

My favorite two runs are; when I was in my 944 at Summit and CCM was doing instructor training in the Ho with Jack, and in my 993 at the glen a few years ago with a 952 when we went nose to tail the entire session passing back and forth a few times each lap.

Are you telling me about cheap racing? I do race an Acura you know.

Yeah a Miata is $20k but how much does a new tub cost? $1000?  The cost to race a Spec Boxster is going to be roughly the same as racing a 911, so may as well just race a 911.  Forget about close racing because there aren't enough of the cars in the area.

Never build or buy a car to race in a class with only 3 cars, it's just stupid.

Maintainence cost my be the same boxster to 911, but initial outlay for the boxster is less. Can you find a ready to race 996 for $30k?
