If the '77 924 is soaked w/ water, the floor of the passenger compartment is saturated.  The door seals seem tight (the water actually soaks the carpet closer to the console); therefore, it appears that the water is coming in from behind the dash.  Where should I begin to look to rectify this problem?  Any suggestions?

I had the same thing happen to my 944.  Replace the seal on the sun roof and blow out the drains on the hatch.  Good Luck.  Did u ever call RS Barn?

Called Pete at RS Barn and will be bringing the 924 to him sometime later this fall.  We do not have a sunroof, so that can't be the issue.  When you say to "blow out the drains on the hatch" ... which hatch?  Are there drainage holes around the battery tray that may be clogged?

Sorry for all the questions ... just learning about this beast.

I'm sorry.  There are drain holes for the sunroof (which u dont have, I should have known that) and the rear glass hatch.  My car sat outside for 3 months and several rain storms waiting for parts. It actually had a puddle on the floor when I went to pick it up.  I guess the rear hatch wouldnt be the prob with H2O up front.  Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I just dropped off my car to Pete for Safety Tech for our upcoming Thunderbolt weekend.  Cheers, Mike

Its a stretch, but there might be drainage holes near the windshield wipers. When they get filled with debris and clog, the interior will get saturated.

Yes, we're off and running for getting the old girl safe to travel on the road.  Pete has done a general "physical" on the 924 and has come up with a leaking fuel distributor and other less crucial issues.  He's trying to invoke his magic and come up with an affordable fix.  Still in the research stage at this time.

I'll keep you posted on the progress.  The car was a blast to drive over to Pete's (even with the leaking fuel and the exhaust fumes!).

Don't mean to be ignorant - what are AX & DE - Autocross & Driver's Educ.?
