- Ripp87Turbo - 08-27-2008 Hi, I own an '87 951 I recently removed the cat from my exhaust and replaced it with a steel straight pipe. I was told by someone that this was the completely wrong thing to do and that the car won't run right due to incorrect backpressure. I think otherwise. I would like an opinion of whoever cares to respond. Much appreciated. - STEVEMCMORN - 08-28-2008 Oh - sorry - can't help .... I only openned this topic as was ex[pecting to see some cool pictures from summitthock: - Larry Herman - 08-28-2008 Your "otherwise" thinking is correct. Your car has plenty of backpressure with the turbo itself, and any further back pressure beyond that merely hurts performance. FWIW we put a Fabspeed 3" exhaust (no cat) on my son's 951 and it really woke it up. - michael lang - 08-28-2008 + you gotta love the extra noise it makes |
