I have a 2000 Boxster which has always been driven like a kitten. I believe I may have a serious problem.  Experiencing a bearing sounding noise coming from the engine.  Appears internal.  Car seems to run fine however, which I would not expect if any internal components were defective. I am looking for a good reasonable Boxster mechanic in the Yardley, PA area to take a look at it.  Can you recommend anyone?  Thank you for your help.

Steve,

You showed great restraint by not commenting that driving the Boxster "like a kitten" might be symptomatic of a deeper problem -- the solution being spirited participation in DE events, etc.

A bearing noise?  Does it change pitch with adding steering input?  If this is the case, you are losing fluid in the power steering system which is common due to the proximity of the plastic line to the heat of the engine.   There is a repair/improvement available for this that is pretty economical.

Problem was the water pump.  when the water started leaking all became apparent.  thwe wabbling pump caused the noise of course.
