I just got back from a DE track event at Summit Point with BMW CCA New Jersey Chapter.  Here's the report on the Summit Point track conditions for early 2009:

Lots of the areas on the track that were repaved or re-sealed late last year have held up nicely.  No pavement crumbling from the winter freeze-thaw cycle.
Only problem is that the sealer is "super slick" when it is wet.  I had the privilege to drive in the rain and in the dry at Summit Point at this event with BMW-NJ.

The wet conditions are normal on almost all of the track, until you get to the sealed/re-paved areas... which are very slippery with very little grip.  The dry grip is the same as the rest of the normally paved surface of the track.

Regardless, enter with caution in the beginning of the Spring DE season.  Many haven't driven since late last year and you need to get your rhythm down-pat before beginnning to push the envelope again.

Drive well and drive safe !!

George, did you do the NJ ITS?

No, but it was in conjunction with this event.

I ask because I went to the Genesee Valley BMW CCA instructor seminar last weekend in Rochester and learned what a good job NJ BMW CCA does in instructor training.

I did a test day at SP in the Miata a couple of weeks ago. It was dry and pretty cold, but the track was good and sticky. Glen and Dan did the SCCA race school last weekend or so and found it slippery in the wet, but fun.

I'll be doing one shortly.
