Anyone interested to work on and/or race a 24 Hours of Lemons car for 2010?

If you're not familiar with the series, basically its a road race where you're limited to spending a total of $500 preparing the car (including the cost of the car!)  Safety equipment, wheels, and tires are not included, and you can sell parts to make back money to make the cap.

Racing license is not required.  4-6 drivers per car.

I'm working with a team of guys to put a car together to race at Summit Point June 19-20th of 2010.  This is also the same weekend of NASA Mid-Atlantic's biggest event, Hyperfest!  It's going to be a rip roaring fun weekend to say the least!

We're building a 1995 Acura Integra GSR for this competition but I also have another candidate car, BMW, that I bought for cheap.

"The crowd. The spectacle. The pall of blue smoke and roasted clutch discs. In all motorsport, no event captures the universal human need to whale on old crapcans and hoover down greasy barbecue like the 24 Hours of LeMons. "

A client based in California and I are interested in the Summit Point race. Given the distances, is there anyone here looking for two more drivers or interested in asembling an "arrive and drive" package for us?

- Darren - 10-20-2009

Chris that is entirely possible.  At this point I'm looking to compile a list of who is interested and that will help us plan this out.

Count me in as two: myself and Ron. Ron would come in from San Francisco, but he has driven SP and has raced in the SCCA 12-hour race there as well.

I know Chris has been trying to do this for the past couple of years.. I'll let him know about the post, Darren.

Todd,

I remember the commercials for the LS with the tower of champagne glasses.

Your car could be the safest in the field.    I love the concept of the race but not the limit on safety equipment.

Safety equipment is exempt from the $500 limit.

I've been contacted by several people on the phone and in PM.  If there are any other interested parties, let me know Smile I think there will be more than one car fielded, and at this point we're gauging interest.
