- fve - 08-04-2009 Howdy. Well, my wife (in the past year) has gone from loathing that i wanted to take my car to the track to now wanting a taste. Just one hit. Everyone is doing it. In any case, could someone recommend a hotel/motel/BB that would be wife-appropriate near Summit. i was planning on sleeping in a tent: all the hotel money could be applied to new tires after all. Additionally, which day is to be track tasting? We will have to modify travel plans accordingly. Thanks, fve (gt3 midnight blue, frank somewhat green) - stentech1 - 08-04-2009 The taste of the track program will be running both days. Class will be aprox 20 min at 10 am. followed by the ride of you life. Warning this little taste could make you a track attic. SM - geza - 08-05-2009 After trying many of the hotels in the area, my opinion is the Holiday Inn Express in Charles Town (Ranson) is one of the better choices. The rooms are relatively clean and they have a price of $82 for Summit Point. (YOU MUST ASK FOR IT). Winchester also has some nice choices, but I think it is a bit farther and the nicer ones seem to be more expensive. This seems to be the best compromise between nice and price. - George3 - 08-05-2009 ^^^^^ Agreed. That's my hotel of choice and they have a great hot breakfast in the morning included, too. - Trevor McNeill - 08-05-2009 Hampton Inn in Inwood is also very nice. Easy to get to - quick to the track - surprisingly comfortable beds. I think they run a little under $90/night. - steveh - 08-05-2009 Carriage Inn B&B in Charles Town is very wife-appropriate, but pricey in season. Stayed there during the Shenandoah event in 2007 -- since I could not be there for breakfast, the owners packed me a lunch each day. Nice touch. Since then, I've stayed at either the Holiday Express in Ranson or the Comfort Suites in Martinsville. - APXD 30 - 08-05-2009 The old Shenandoah event used to fall on our anniversary. The Bavarian Inn is a 30 minute drive but has a nice view of the river and a nice (very nice for the area) restaurant. http://www.bavarianinnwv.com/ - fve - 08-05-2009 thanks for all the suggestions. I will let her decide. See y'all there...or at tech first. fve - delanckc - 08-05-2009 Hampton Inn in Winchester is another spot. Nice drive to the track in the morning. decent breakfast available. Other stores available in the area. Kevin - George3 - 08-06-2009 Frank, So as you can see, there are many choices. ![]() |
