- David 41 - 09-21-2009 Hi, Sometimes when I turn the key to start (to start the car) nothing happens. If I turn it off then turn it on hard, that is more forceful the car will start. I would guess the ignition switch may have to be replaced but since I've made some expensive wrong guesses in the past I though it best to ask if this problem has been encountered before. Any advice is welcome. Regards, Dave Ford - asher681 - 09-21-2009 Dave, I just replaced my 944 S8's ignition switch, it was only $80 , Labor is another story. my guess 1hr. Joe Asher, Resentoter VP (from Jamison). Are you comming to the meeting in Willow Grove this wednesday ? - Larry Herman - 09-21-2009 Sounds like the switch. Is this only for the starting part, or is it intermittant to turn on the pre-start functions as well? - David 41 - 09-22-2009 Hi Larry, All the other key functions are OK, it's only the starting that's a problem. Regards, Dave - David 41 - 09-22-2009 Thanks Joe, I didn't think the switch would be much, but still with the mistakes I've made with the headlight motor and clutch I wanted more opinions. I'll try to put it in myself (that always works out so well :?) I will be at the meeting tomorrow, see you there. Dave - David 41 - 03-08-2010 My guess was wrong again... Starter solenoid, Porsche doesn't sell them for 944's but hey do have the stater and the solenoid is included. Dave |
