Hi,

Sometimes when I turn the key to start (to start the car) nothing happens.  If I turn it off then turn it on hard, that is more forceful the car will start.

I would guess the ignition switch may have to be replaced but since I've made some expensive wrong guesses in the past I though it best to ask if this problem has been encountered before.  Any advice is welcome.

Regards,

Dave Ford

Dave, I just replaced my 944 S8's ignition switch, it was only $80 , Labor is another story. my guess 1hr.  Joe Asher, Resentoter VP (from Jamison).

Are you comming to the meeting in Willow Grove this wednesday ?

Sounds like the switch.  Is this only for the starting part, or is it intermittant to turn on the pre-start functions as well?

Hi Larry,

All the other key functions are OK, it's only the starting that's a problem.

Dave

Thanks Joe,

I didn't think the switch would be much, but still with the mistakes I've made with the headlight motor and clutch I wanted more opinions.

I'll try to put it in myself (that always works out so well :?)

I will be at the meeting tomorrow, see you there.

Dave

My guess was wrong again...

Starter solenoid, Porsche doesn't sell them for 944's but hey do have the stater and the solenoid is included.
