- marked001 - 01-20-2010 SA 2010 helmets dont come out until the fall....correct? Are SA 2000 helmets still allowed in the '10 season? - Darren - 01-20-2010 That's my understanding -- that until the 2010 helmets come out in the Fall, that the 2000 helmets are still valid. It would be stupid and self-defeating to force people to buy 2005 certified helmets for this year, both for safety reasons and economic reasons. If the 2000's aren't allowed then I'm buying a cheap $350 2005 helmet. Otherwise I'll get a $1000 2010 helmet in the fall. - Wally - 01-20-2010 marked001 wrote: Quote:SA 2010 helmets dont come out until the fall....correct? That's what really sucks is that my helmet expired this past season. So I too will have to make a decision to buy a cheap helmet to make it through this season. Next season I will step up and get a real nice helmet. - Darren - 01-20-2010 How could your helmet expire last season? - michael lang - 01-21-2010 Darren wrote: Quote:How could your helmet expire last season? SA2000. Grid tech from Potomac put a big red sticker on my helmet with "2009 expired" imprinted on it in November at my last event. Are they wrong? - Darren - 01-21-2010 I don't know about their events but Paul (Wally) is the authority for RTR and he just said that SA2000 helmets are good until the end of 2010. - Wally - 01-21-2010 michael lang wrote: Quote:Quote: I think the operative word is "Potomac". PCA National guidelines state that any helmet used should be a "SNELL 2005 rated or the previous SNELL rating" Since the new rating does not come out until some time this year, a SNELL 2000 rated helmet is valid until the new rating is mandated (2011 season). |
