Hi,
I attempted to remove my 944S A/C compressor and alternator to use an A/C delete bracket. With the top long bolt and and the small bottom bolt removed the alternator would pivot upwards, rolling as if the top bolt was loosened but still in place but would not come away from the alternator bracket.
Is there another part that has to come off before the alternator will, or is there a special technique to get it off?

I recently did this under slightly different circumstances. Just the same, I seem to recall that it took a lot of wiggling of the alternator back and forth before it began to walk its way out of the brackets. If our experience is typical, good luck getting it back in. I won't be attempting that for a good long time.

Good to hear from you, so she's black now or is that a different car?
So there is only the top and bottom bolts, nothing else holding it in other than the bracket's tight?
Knowing that and the fact I will not be needing the existing bracket after I get the alternator out I can work with that.
My project removes the A/C compressor and the existing alternator bracket. A new light weight alternator bracket is bolted in and the alternator is hung at the bottom of it in approx where the A/C compressor was.

Yes, just the two bolts and a lot of friction from the bracket.

The alternator has two aluminum inserts in it, where the bolts slide through.
When the bolts are tightend, these inserts get pulled inwards towards eachother to make up any differences in spacing.
Slide a crow bar in there and pull, then wiggle it out, once its out its fine getting back in, then when you reinstall, the inserts are pulled tight again.

A small crow bar was the exact tool I used along with a few drops of Liquid Wrench, it just popped right off.
