Took a stone to the windshield on the drive home from Pocono - now I have a quarter sized spider crack. What's the least painful way to get this fixed?

Does your insurance cover glass damage? Some policies cover it with no deductible.

Safelite Auto Glass does great work with repairs. http://www.safelite.com/
I had one decent size chip/crack, about as big as a dime, and the technician was able to repair it. He even did a few extra small chips that I had pointed out. All of it was covered under my insurance, so it didn't cost me anything!
Give them a call for an estimate to see if they can repair it first. I've heard several stories of replacements being difficult to get right the first try....

I agree with Safelite. Unfortunately have had to use their services a few times now both for windshield replacement and repair. Excellent service overall. If the damage is not in your line of sight, I would favor windshield repair. Keep in mind there will be some residual evidence of the damage but it will keep things from getting worse. My philosophy is that with DE's etc we are going to be prone to more cracks, therefore avoiding windshield replacement for as long as possible is preferable.

Allstate used to be really good about glass repair and they would do it for free.

I used Safelite on my 997s and they did a great job. They came to my office and were finished in under 30 minutes.
We have State Farm and had to pay a nominal amount. I think State Farm is the only insurer that does not cover 100% of the Safelite charges.

Definately check with your insurance provider Lainey. Most policies will cover this without any charge or deductible. However if the whole windshield needs to be replaced then you may need to pay your comp. deductible for that - all depends.
Was it on the NE Extension? arrgh i hate that road!
