- NoToaster - 09-09-2010 Hi everyone! I just joined the ranks of Porsche owners with a 1997 911 Cabrio. And just joined this forum. Unfortunately, I'm having a problem with my top. I took it to Don Rosen for diagnosis, since they're close, and they said that both top rear transmissions are bad and that it would cost $2685 ($1700 of that is parts) to fix. I figure that I'm going to have an ongoing relationship with a mechanic, so I might as well start now, and I doubt that the dealership is the best option. i'm in ft. washington and collegeville all the time, so anyone in those directions would be great too. I'm willing to go a ways for the best person/price. any suggestions? thanks! - Budman - 09-09-2010 You might try Possum Hollow Motorsports in Phoenixville. Bill Boys is the owner and very supportive of RTR/PCA members. They're at 481 Schuylkill Rd, Phoenixville, phone: 610-933-6868, email: phm@possumhollowmotor sports.com. From Collegville about 8 miles maybe. - NoToaster - 09-09-2010 thanks! - aualexa2 - 09-16-2010 I don't have personal experience with him, but I've read that Bob Fox in Ambler is supposed to be good. He's only a few minutes from Fort Washington. His address is: 210 N. Main St, Ambler, PA - NoToaster - 09-16-2010 thanks to everyone who answered! i have an appointment with bill boys next week. keep your fingers crossed for me that it doesn't break the bank. the weather is so perfect, i want the top down! - ninjabones - 09-16-2010 Most of the shops farm out the convertible top stuff, as the work can be very complicated. I had the top on my 95 cab fixed at Willow Grove Auto Top a few years ago... those guys do this stuff all day long and were extremely reasonable. www.wgautotop.com Not a bad sign that a 993 cab is on the home page of the website. They were very reasonable and allowed me to bring my own parts. - Porshagod - 09-16-2010 NoToaster wrote: Quote:thanks to everyone who answered! i have an appointment with bill boys next week. keep your fingers crossed for me that it doesn't break the bank. the weather is so perfect, i want the top down!Bill Boys (Possum Hollow Motorsports) will actually do your top in-house. They are currently doing full tops on an '85 911 Cab and a '61 Mercedes 190 SL. |
