- Wellardmac - 01-22-2007 Can anyone give me a recommendation of a place tha can do a high end clearcoat touch-up for me? I have some slight clearcoat crazing around my side markers and I'd like to get it fixed. Holberts went wacko and wanted to strip the paint off and repaint it ($880!!), when in fact it should only need touch-up and buffing.... sometimes I really wonder about them. Any guidance would be great! Thanks! -W - Brian Minkin - 01-22-2007 What do you mean by crazing? Is the Clear Coat scratched or is it foggy? - Wellardmac - 01-22-2007 No, it cracked a little around the side marker when we installed it. I need to repair it. - ccm911 - 01-23-2007 I thought you were going to have Holbert's do the repair when you brought it in. - Wellardmac - 01-23-2007 That was the plan until they told me that they need to take off the bumper, remove the paint around the side markers and refinish it - grand total $880. I don't think so. Annoying, but not $900 worth of annoying. ![]() Anyway, I just picked up the car and it looks very nice.... pity that I have to let it sit in the garage under heat for a couple of days to make sure that the bonding tape holds. |
