My oldest son, Ryan, currently a Junior at PSU, is looking for a meaningful 2011 summer job in his future career field - he wants to be an attorney.

I know we have a lot of attorneys in our club.  So, does anyone out there have any suggestions on how he should go about obtaining some type of meaningful summer position in the legal field?  What types of suitable positions might be available since he is still an undergrad and not in law school just yet?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, Marty

Great, just what we need another attorney. You should have sent him to school to learn to be a Porsche Technician. :dude:

A lawyer opens a new practice in a town that never had one.

After 6 months, he hadn't had one client! He was about to shut down and leave town when another lawyer opened an office directly across the street.

Six months later...

THEY ARE BOTH MILLIONAIRES!

If he wanted to work on cars, that would have been the direction I would have pushed him in... He could live at home and pay me in trade to upkeep the Red Baron.

Am I the only one that caught the irony of "meaningful" being used in the same sentence as "attorney"? Big Grin

OK, Chris. Consider the gauntlet thrown. Is not the peaceful resolution of disputes meaningful? Is not the rule of law, rather than the rule of the strong, meaningful? Is not the development of law since Magna Carta at least as meaningful as the IT department?

Hmm...two more negative Lawyer comments, yet you chose to personalize mine.  Problem?

No problem. If you can dish it out, you can take it. Isn't that your avatar?

My son, Ryan, is at it again this year...

Anything out there for the summer for aspiring attorneys?

I can fill you in on his background, accomplishments, and law school acceptances.

Thanks, Marty
