Picked up an 84 911 that has Sparco Evo seats mounted on factory sliders. Problem is the seat is not low enough for when wearing a helmet. The lowest holes on the side mounts were open, so I tried to lower the seat into that, but the bottom of the seat hits the floor and makes the bolt about 1/4 inch off.  What are my options? Remove the factory slider and mount directly to the floor?  Here's a couple pictures of the setup. Thanks for the help! Need to get this squared away before Watkins.

Adam, have you tried adjusting the front bolts to get the seat to change angles giving you more head room?

I was getting used to the seats in my car and it just wasn't quite right. My instructor suggested that I try changing the angle on my seat. I did, and now it's just right.

Best of luck

Dumb question, have you tried sitting in the seat with the cushions removed?

I did try putting the front into a higher bolt hole but did not help much. If I slouch a little bit I have I guess a half inch or inch of room between the top of the helmet and the sunroof panel.

I didn't try to remove the cushion, but the cushion pad is so thin on these seats I didn't think it would do much.  I can give it a shot though.

By the way, I am 5' 10" , so it's not like I'm trying to fit Shaq in the car. Smile

I bought my 964 from someone who was 6'6".  The Sparco Evo seat was very low and fully functional.  I believe Dougherty's did the installation with a different slider setup.

For comparison, here is a picture of the slider on my Recaro seats.  I put my cell phone under the rear of the seat as a reference point.  The rear of the seat is about 3/4" off the floor, which is about as low as they go.  The slider bolts directly to the bottom of the seat.  Maybe Sparco or Brey-Krause has something similar.

I have a pair of Koenig seats that are a bottom mount seat, so I may try them as a last resort, but there's gotta be somehow to retain the slider functionality with the Sparco seats and get them lower. At least I hope. May have to drive it over to Dougherty's and have them take a look. They did a lot of work on the car, not sure if they were the ones who installed the seats though.

Looks like this maybe another option. Re-welding the seat mounts lower down. Although, many warn that welding against the transmission tunnel is a bit risky due to the fuel lines running down them.

I have sparco evo seats in my 993 with sliders. I am 6' and have no clearance problems. Perhaps different seat brackets will provide a lower postion. Also when I have a very tall student in the right seat I take the cushions out and they fit.
