My M3 gets hotter than stink in the sun.  Does anyone know of a decent tint shop in the Valley Forge area?  I already have a quote of $285, but the shop is almost in Wilmington.  Thanks.

Joe - Please be sure that this is what you really want.  Removing tint is the worst job in the world.

IMHO - Tinting is totally Ghetto.Big Grin

+1 on the removal.  I never want to do that again.

I agree that this car looks better without tint, Chris.  However, I scalded my hand on my aluminum shifter ball on a hot day.  It wouldn't have been so bad if I wasn't in a client's parking lot when I screamed one of Carlin's "seven words you cannot say on television."   I ordered a different shifter ball too.

If you like your shifter knob and don't want to change to something that doesn't hold much heat (e.g., delrin knobs), but just want something for those extra hot and sunny days, an option is to just have a knob cover like this one handy:

or, if you prefer (and I certainly don't!), this one:

I guess a sock would work just as well....Confusedhock:

Thanks.  That's a great idea.  I can use the "Punkin Chunkin" beer coozie I have sitting in my garage.

Lyons Detail in Wayne (610-989-WAXX) also does excellent window tinting. They also do a great job removing it if needed.

I am so happy that I tinted the M3 the week before it got hot.  Anyway, thanks for the Lyons Detailing tip.  Tim did a great job.   It was $285 and $25 to get a dark band across the top of the windshield.  As ChrisM would say, "Ultra Ghetto".

Before the tint, I bought a $30 custom-cut shade for the windshield.  It helped but wasn't enough.  The shield/tint combination works very well.

I was surprised to find that the car already had a clear film on the rear three windows.  I guess it was completely faded old tint.

Thanks again.

And did you recieve the three-disc "Rap Sampler" package as a bonus?

If I may offer a suggestion... Rather than installing window tint, which typically just darkens the windows to the eye... why not install the UV guard?  I have that on the front windshield of my Titan and it not only blocks the UV to keep the dash from fading and cracking, but I installed it on all my windows and it has kept the inside of my BLACK Titan considerably cooler in the summer heat. I would recommend it to anyone, but don't get the cheap stuff. Get it from a reputable shop who knows how to install it. It's thicker than tint and harder to install on curved windshields, so don't cheap out.  Good shops can do it just fine.

Now, also an FYI... it isn't exactly clear... it puts about a 5% tint on the windshield, and from the outside, it actually creates a "mirror" effect where, in some light conditions you can't see if anyone is inside or not.
