- DJbrand1 - 06-29-2011 It is Maureen McVale's old 84 black 911. I maybe purchasing it from the current owner, but apparently it was well known within the club, serviced and prepped at Dougherty's. Figured I would ask here to see if anyone could provide some feedback or any knowledge they have about it before I pull the trigger. Unfortunately, I do not know the McVale's to ask them personally. Thanks! - jmr3 - 06-29-2011 Maureen loved that car and it definitely loved her back. When she had it the car was just about bone stock except for safety stuff. I believe the current owner made significant and well thought out suspension and other improvements. The last time I saw him and the car it was at his home track, Summit Point, a few years ago and he was tearing it up. He seems like a knowledgeable guy (an engineer if I recall correctly) and a straight shooter. Good luck. - DJbrand1 - 06-29-2011 Sounds like the right one. The seller, Martin Burk, lives right next to Summit. Although I don't believe he did much of the setup except he had the gearbox rebuilt and regeared. Trying to find out if any work was done to the motor as he is not sure. Thanks! Hopefully you'll be seeing it around again. - ccm911 - 06-30-2011 It has a killer suspension and is pretty tricked out. A decent car. In the years since Maureen owned it, most of us have lost track of its condition, so I would have a PPI with the focus being on the Engine and Trans done before finalizing any deal. - DJbrand1 - 06-30-2011 Well I went ahead and purchased it. So you all will be seeing it around again. Gearbox was rebuilt. Motor is still oil leak and smoke free. With even compression. Time will tell, as always, but my fingers are crossed that this will be a solid car. If anyone else knows the details of the car please feel free to contact me, as I believe some documentation was lost. Have not heard back from Doughertys yet, but hopefully they still have some records. |
