Arena, it is a stock 993 motor. Remember, it is the car, the track and the driver. Look again, he carries more speed in ALL the corners and a better line than the safe DE.

stock 993 engine.  I don't lift. Smile  I would estimate most of the cars out there had more snot by a good margin.

Same track in a race 105 deg heat.  In  this case I start at the back due a mechanical and have to pass some lower hp cars.  You can tell at what point I am having to work to pass much higher hp cars to get to the front.  25 passes I think.

As Nick commented racing brings on different driving lines and techniques to get through traffic without losing momentum.  DE's are a great place to develop skills and confidence for actual racing.

It was a riot watching you get frustrated behind that white turbo at 4:10... he clearly had another 100 hp on you, but was all over the place in the turns!!

Was this the Club race before the Grand Am race? I watched that from the grandstands- it's great to see it from the in-car perspective. Were you the lead car in that group of 3 black 993's that stayed together for pretty much the whole race?

- bobt993 - 11-12-2011

that turbo was more like 300hp more and 400 lbs lighter. Should have been passing the Cup cars. I was chasing the 993 with a big bucks 3.8 in it. Dan and I qualified ahead of him, but he outpowered us on the start. He had about 90 hp over Dan Yonkers and me. We got split apart by a GTR1 (GT2) car that was slow for his class, but got into our race. I ended up in front of the other 993 stuck behind the GT2 then my gear box locked in 3rd with 2 laps to go. Sad 2nd race was just before the Grand Am start.

Bobby T. - That weekend is a blur. I don't remember that race, specifically, but I remember qualifying and that you had gearbox problems. It is interesting to watch our driving styles.....very similar, except that I am always mis-shifting with that 915 gearbox......if I could just remember slower is faster. hard to do with the likes of those damn 993s and cup cars in front of you! Are you going to Sebring next year??
