Nice job steve... I thought this forum was dead. Way to jolt some life back into this old dog.

I don't believe Jeff is saying this event should be abandoned. He is simply pointing out that the AX chair has stated he doesn't have the time. Regardless of what was promised, remember, he ran unopposed. So, regardless of any perceived promise, he was still unopposed and would have gotten the position. This is a volunteer position and it seems he doesn't have the time to put together such a large event. Through all of this back and forth, I haven't seen one member step up and offer their services. I bet if someone or several someones stepped up to help, the event would be made. In the past, this was put together by a group. The AX chair is one person. If you think he is lazy...run against him later this year. If you think this event needs to happen, offer your services. I am talking to you, Steve, and your "5 for". Otherwise, quit complaining.

I find it funny that Steve mentions how Jeff is against PnP and also mentions that it was covered in Panorama without noticing/mentioning that it was Jeff who wrote the article. I don't think anyone is against the charitable aspect of this event, but many of us have jobs and only have so much extra time to give. Maybe if we all work together we can make something happen.

We would get all of the help we could stand if we changed the event from "Planes 'n Porsches" to "Pornography 'n Porsches".  Just a thought.....

Hey Rockadile, How are you? Welcome to our forum. It's great that you joined today and this was your first post ever! You are obviously a fully committed member of our organization. I love it when new members suddenly pop of the woodwork - I do hope the Forum moderators dont check your IP address.

When did I ever say Jeff is against PnP? There is a bit of confusion about the whole for charity or not issue, but I never said he was against it. WRT Jeff's article, of course i knew he wrote it - I look at it every day as it is framed and mounted on my bathroom wall. I love Specialty Cars Blue car! Did you know they sponsored the AX roadshow for 4 years but no one returned their emails last year and they don't sponsor it any more.

Many of us have jobs, some of us even have wives and kids ... but when we make a commitment, we keep them. I ran AX for FOUR years - what have you done? Let us know your real name and what you've done to help the club and then we'll decide your usefulness. How about you step up instead of passing anonymous judgment? Regarding the 5, the majority have been running club events for years so they have nothing to prove to anyone anymore

Again it really isn't the responsibility for the autocross department to take on charities - I don't know what exactly was promised to who or what or when and with aside I think planes and Porsche should continue as it was a great event...if the autocross chair doesn't want to add this it to his seemingly diminishing responsibilities the next logic question would be - do you want to take this on again? The club would be very happy to promote this to what it once was as I'm sure Sandra and KM would appreciate the support you helped build up over the years.

NEWSFLASH UPDATE --- THE OLD AX TEAM HAVE REFORMED AND WITH THE HELP OF 3 EXTRA VOLUNTEERS, WE ARE WILLING TO RUN THE 2013 PLANES AND PORNOGRAPHY (I MEAN PORSCHES) EVENT ............. ON THE CONDITION THE APRIL MEETING AT P.O.C. IS CANCELLED

I AM 100% SERIOUS - MY FORUM POST IS MY WORD AND BOND.
PLEASE DISCUSS AT THE NEXT EXEC MEETING AND LET US KNOW YOUR ANSWER BY THE END OF FEB

Steve,

Count me in for help with the P&P event. I always enjoyed working this event and seeing the enjoyment of so many club members. And of course you will have to twist the arm of my other half for timing and scoring.

+1 as long as it doesn't conflict with a DE. I'll even do safety.:dude:

As an active participant of the last 4 years of the Autocross club, I will jump in with the sharks (at the risk of being bit),…

I have to agree with Steve and respectfully disagree with the opposition.  I have grown to like the Autocross club and to enjoy its attendees. However the last year was a big disappointment. I have Autocrossed under Steve and Ian and really appreciated the level of leadership and quality of the events they put together (the help of Mr. V was also very well appreciated). The AutoX roadshow events were nicely organized and you could tell some serious efforts were put into it. We have been accustomed to a level of professionalism and quality almost unmatched.

chairman[/i]:[suP] [/suP]Is the highest officer of an organized group. The person holding the office is typically elected or appointed by the members of the group. The chairman presides over meetings of the assembled group and conducts its business in an orderly fashion. When the group is not in session, the officer's duties often include acting as its head, its representative to the outside world and its spokesperson.? [/i]
[/i]
By definition a Chairman is a person that SHOULD represent its member and therefore should be held up to a different standard than regular members. Hence, the quality and professionalism that we are looking for. That being said, the current chairman,  has not only let down all of the autocross participants by deceitfully promising a PNP event last season, but by also lowering the standards and high quality of the club during the last season. The events were not well coordinated; heck the schedule was consistently either wrong or changing. The chairman’s tasks were really not rocket science (after the PNP was canceled), it was a matter of keeping score and posting results,…. even that appeared to be a monumental task and we were lucky if results were posted within a month.

I would say in his defense, that Jon can be a pleasant person, he’s just not committed, and perhaps had different motives for wanting to take on the chair position.

In short I think we should simply hold him accountable for the responsibility he willingly agreed to take on.[/i]

that's fantastic news...well except for the ultimatum....I have you know that the member meeting at p.o.c was scheduled long before there was a sniff of the PnP discussion.  I have set up the first 5 monthly meetings already and we have had membership meetings there the past few years...even before Jonathan starting working there.  That is not going to change.

Really what kind of child antics are we having here..."I'll take my ball and go home if I don't like the rules."

I don't behold to threats...you either do it or you don't....if you do..and I certainly hope you do, we will, as a club, will be behind you 100 percent b/c it is a worthy cause and an exciting fun event.

Steve, I agree with everything you've stated. Hard to refute cold hard facts. Actions speak way louder than words.

If your offer is accepted by the exec committee at the next meeting, I'll donate the beer for the event again.
