Hey Saucy, why are you so interested in my balls?

There's no such thing as a free lunch (*well unless you signed up for the 2009-2012 PnP where we had FREE food, beer and wine) and who ever agreed to the rules?? This is the deal that MY AX sub-committee and new helpers require in order to run the 2013 Planes and Porsches Event.

With respect to you as a very hard working VP, I don't think it is your decision. As discussed above, please take our offer to the next EXEC meeting and have a full official minuted vote on it

Steve, you can count me in. I would like to help as much as I can to revive this meaningful event.

- Vytenis - 02-08-2013

Steve,

I would be happy to help out again.

I apologize for the typo above -- I forgot there wasn't a PnP event last year in 2012

If you're running the show - count me in for help

- Lainey - 02-08-2013

Hey Steve, sounds like you have some momentum here. Count me in.... If Nick is bringing the beer, things may be looking up.

Pretty sure my Steve (Landstra) will help out as before with course design - he's got his roots in AX and maybe can get some of his old buddies with Corvettes to come. Watch out Nick Betegh... (sp?)Cool

+1 Jeff Conklin - If McPorn is running it, I'm in too

Steve,

Paula, Rita, and I ran the Show & Shine at the last Planes & Porsches, even though it rained, and I would be happy to help out again in any capacity. My only issue would be if it conflicts with a home baseball game.

Personally, I was a little disappointed at the cancellation in 2012. It's one of the few events taking place in my neck of the woods. And, now we've lost our Porsche dealership, too! Many people are not happy about that, either.

I can assure you the topic, and your offer, will be discussed at the next board meeting even though goodie store/awards is no longer a voting member as of January 2013.

Dave (Carrera S) is right.  Both he and I have served on several not for profit organizations as Directors.  Riesentoter is a not for profit and has a duty to provide community service.  It’s not a “by-law? thing; it’s a “law? thing.  Having an organization for the soul purpose of benefitting its own members is fine; you just have to pay taxes.  We have not focused our efforts on any charitable concerns for quite a while.  While we are not required to “zero out? our cash at the end of the year, sitting on a six figure cash balance with no programs to benefit any community concerns probably isn’t the best idea.  PnP and our Make A Wish fund raiser and have both evaporated with no replacement on the horizon.  Lest we forget, we drew the attention of the PA Attorney General’s office just a few years ago during our time of unpleasantness.  Something to keep in mind, political cover is fleeting.

It could be understandable that a freshman Chair not fully comprehend the scope of his duties.  A second term Chair can not plead ignorance.  PnP should have been embraced, planned and executed during this second term of the current AX Chair.  It is reprehensible that the PnP would be set a drift again.  Nobody is that busy, nobody.

Being a volunteer is never an excuse.  We all have commitments outside RTR.  We also have a whole bunch (herd) of members that are more than willing to help when asked.  And at a track event you don’t even have to ask, it’s just there.  Matter of fact, a few track rats have already volunteered for PnP.  Sorry, should I have called them track “r?-words?  Because I know they’re not “c?-words.  No one ever accused DE drivers of being “cows?.  Get it, that’s why I said herd earlier on.  Try to keep up.

I don’t see Steve’s offer as a threat, childish or an ultimatum. Rather, it’s a bit of gunboat diplomacy with a dash of brinksmanship.  Go Britannia!  It is a bit funny when he uses “arse? perhaps, but above all his words are heartfelt and principled.  British humour can be hard for us Americans to understand sometimes.  Consider Monty Python; I rest my case.  He is not going to do this by himself.  He is going to lead and develop a team.  And it looks like the Fab 5 are chomping at the bit. (That’s a horse reference to balance out the cow reference of the previous paragraph)  Instead of an off hand rejection by one board member, the board in its entirety, should weigh his offer.  (Refer to paragraph one, ka-ching)

So let’s hold hands, sing “Kum ba ya? and have group hug.  Now that we all know there is a team at the ready, lets get it together kids.  That way, when our grandson asks us what we did in World War II we don’t have to say “I shoveled “s?-word in Louisiana?.  Okay maybe that last point was a little off the mark but you get my gist.  If you think this post is a little off, then you trying flying to Florida with Benz and his crew.

+1 Klingster...

Mike, just a clarification on the tax thing. RTR is a tax exempt 501©(4) organization, which means we can't accept tax deductible donations. It does not mean we have to give the club's money to charity or pay taxes. Just want to make everyone is clear on that point. That said, we might consider ourselves to have a moral obligation to have a charitable purpose, something I hope we would all support.
