There MUST be some other 928 owners out there. Let's get something started!

Remember, sixes are nice, but "I'd rather have a V8"!  [Image: burnout.gif]

Dave,

You're not alone!  Has always been my childhood dream car and glad to finally own one.  I find comparing and contrasting it to the 911 pretty interesting too.  Where do you have your car serviced?

Since I am extremely picky when it comes to my cars (and that my 928 is a PCA National Preservation Class Concours winner), the ONLY tech that I will allow to work on my 928 (and 911) is Gary at Possum Hollow Motorsports in Phoenixville, PA.

Dave,

Thank you so much for the information, I'll certainly be in touch with them for service.  Congrats on your win as well, from what I see the car looks great!  In my case,  I'm the second owner of the car, having acquired it about 4 months ago.  It has about 29K miles and is in pristine shape having won the Porsche concours section at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix a few years back.

I'm not yet sure if I'll enter concours events myself (I'm completely new to this) but am religious about maintaining my cars and I know the 928 in particular needs special attention.  It would be great to get these cars together sometime.  Do you take part in any of the 928 interest groups?  (eg Sharkfest etc.)

I've had my 928 for aprox 10 years, but never made it to a Sharkfest, etc. Just too far for me. Two shows that I have attended, and highly recommend, that are closer to home is the The Chesapeake Challenge outside Baltimore, MD (http://www.pcachs.org) and Octoberfest in the Poconos (http://www.poc.pca.org). Both are multi-event weekends and the show portion has both Full Concours and Wash and Shine classes. I'm sure we'll run into each other at a RTR event/meeting or something this summer.

The Octoberfest at Pocono seems worthwhile.  You may be aware of this already, but I stumbled accross another event sponsored by 928 Specialists' called Sharks in the Mountains- https://www.928gt.com/default1.htm.  This event is held in early June  in North Carolina and appears to be the only 928 specific gathering on the East Coast.

You guys have cool cars.   I'm a big fan of the '28 & Risky Business.

Although I can't help but comment on the irony of the first reply...."where do you get yours serviced."   That statement seems to confirm what I've heard about the maintenance requirements of these cars.

If you liked the 928 action in "Risky Business", you should also check out "Weird Science". The Kelly LeBrock action ain't to bad either!

In reference to the maintenance requirements and the cost of repair of these cars, if you have a "good" one thats been serviced properly, the cost to maintain a 928 is about the same (or less) as a 911. Confusedhock:

LOL!  "Weird Science" is a classic!  (Guess I'm weird too...)

My ownership experience with the 928 has been brief but fortunately no issues thus far.  Given the relative rarity of these cars I was primarily concerned about finding a technician comfortable with these.  Thanks to Dave, I think I'll be in good shape.

BTW.  From your avatar it looks like you had a Euro delivery.  Stuttgart is my old stomping ground.  How was the delivery experience and trip?

We're not weird, we're just 2 cylinders better than everyone else! Big Grin

Will you be at the meeting tonight?
