Gang,

As Brian mentioned in a previous post, we are moving to on-line registration for all 2007 DE (and other) events.  Hooray!!!!

Carol and I (yes, I'm married to the registrar - better be good to me this year - I see my mana rising Big Grin) would like to invite you to participate in a test of the new process before we go live before the Shenandoah event.

We are using the motorsportreg.com process as the basis of our on-line registration system.  That's good news since many of you may already have motorsportreg.com accounts as this system is used by several other local groups such as the Delaware Valley BMW Club.  If you do not have an account, you must create one to register for our events this year, as this is the only method of registration that will be accepted.

Click on the following URL to be taken to our new registration site:

http://rtr-pca.motorsportreg.com

If you do not have a motorsportreg.com account, proceed to the "Create Account" process and follow the directions to enter your information and set up your preferences.

Even though the event is a test, the data you enter into your account is real.  So don't mess around here, no Carrera GT's as cars please Tongue.  Pay particular attention to your contact information, emergency contact, car, club membership, and medical information.

All the fees are set at zero for this test event. In a real event, you must submit payment via secure on-line credit card payment (preferred), or via check prior to your registration request being considered.

We'll keep this test event open for the rest of this week.  This will give us the opportunity to experience how this all works before the real thing hits.

Speaking of the real thing.  Registration for the April 28 – 29, 2007 Shenandoah Drivers Education Event will open up to Riesentöter members on Feb 28 and to the general public on Mar 7.

This system should make registering for our events simpler and less time consuming.  Post any feedback to this topic.

Take care,
Jack

One minor detail on the RTR Registration site...

For you German aficionado's. The umlaut over the "o" in Riesentöter is coming soon.

Take care,
Jack

Jack,

This is wonderful.  Great job!!!

I know Potomac and Metro NY PCA, have online registration.  I am not sure if they maintain their site or have a third party administrator.  You should check them out.

Thanks for the feedback.  We checked out several different options over the winter.  As expected, none of the systems were perfect for how we manage our registrations.

However, the motorsportreg.com system covered more of our needs than the others and it seems to be quite adaptable.  Most importantly, the folks that support it are incredibly responsive!

Let us know what you think.

Online registration is a great idea  Smile

Just went to try registration out...  found I am already on board with the BMW club, though I never signed myself up and the info is not complete.  Seeing that the page for adding personal information isn't secure (billing is)  I'm uneasy about putting my stuff out there--phone number, medical info, cars, etc... any way this can be addressed?  Thanks for all that you folks are doing   Cool

Elizabeth,

The Delaware Valley BMW club imported thier entire database when they moved to this system - so if you had any contact with them in the past, that would explain how you got an account on motorsportreg.com. We chose not do that as we wanted to take this oportunity to freshen our data as we know it had gotten out-of-date over the years.

The folks at Motorsportreg assured us the system is completely secure. When I go to my personal account on motorsportreg.com, I see that it's an https: address, which means it's using a secure socket, encrypted connection. I will verify that with the folks at motorsportreg.

The only people that will have access to your personal information are the same folks that had access to it in our current manual process, namely the track program management team (Tom, Carol, & Myself).

I'll pass along any clarifying info I get from the folks at motorsportreg.

Take care,
Jack

Update to my last post:

I just poked around the system a little more and I was able to see a situation where personal info was enterable over a standard http: connection.  I can't see the pattern  though.  Sometimes it uses an https: connection, and sometimes it uses an http: connection.

I have an inquiry into the motorsportreg folks and will post their response.

I have an update on the SSL connection status from the folks at motorsportreg...  They indicated that a secure SSL connection is optional for all interactions on motorsportreg.com.

In other words, if you use an https:// address to enter the site, it stays an SSL connection throughout your entire session.  Also, you can manually switch to an https:// connection at anytime, and it will continue in that mode.  The only area where the system doesn't work quite right is when attempting an SSL connection to our RTR specific start page.  If you point your browser to https://rtr-pca.motorsportreg.com, you get a certificate warning as the name on their certificate is "motorsportreg.com", not "rtr-pca.motorsportreg.com".  If you click continue, you are directed to the main motorsportreg start page, not our RTR specific start page.   I've asked them if that can be addressed.

So, if you are uncomfortable entering your personal data over an http:// connection, please enter the site with an https:// address.

I will ensure the links we provide on our website are of the https:// variety.

Take care,
Jack

I registered! BUT, the one thing that I noticed is that there was no category to list "Run Group".

- JeffConklin - 02-14-2007

After registering you need to sign up for the test event.  In each event it asks what run group.
