- bobt993 - 06-12-2012 Great 3 day event! Car is slowly getting put together. Very hot on Sunday so I used the session to try and stay up a gear in spots and roll the turns to keep the engine cool. https://vimeo.com/43929989 - Robbieknobbie - 06-12-2012 Great video! I had a problem getting the right line around turn 5, so I'll be studying how you get through it. - Ed Kovalevich - 06-12-2012 Nice work Bob! Thanks for doing the data class. Everytime we talk about data, I learn more. - bobt993 - 06-12-2012 Ed, thanks, but I really had little to offer you. I did formulate a G Sum for entry T2 to T3 and found some more time on entry. Don Cox made a suggestion that also worked out. Working in a higher gear also has some interesting comparison to using say 3rd or 4th gear in the lightbulb. - michael lang - 06-14-2012 Bob, your timing in posting this video is perfect for me. I will be up there next Friday w/Schattenbaum. I've never driven Lightning before and am quite excited to get away from Summit Point. I have watched a lot of video but not seen any quite as clear a view and current as yours. I know the track hasn't changed but I am referring to other things like reference points. Anyway, thanks for putting this up. - bobt993 - 06-15-2012 Mike, Send me an email linky and I can give you some turn references for the track. Have fun! I may go down to work with someone (not sure yet). - emayer - 06-15-2012 Excellent help as always Bob. I'm intrigued by your line through the bulb, which seems lower than that which is typically taught. It makes empiric sense to me especially in a race environment though I did not attempt this myself. I tried both mid-track and high entry to the bulb and found the latter to be beneficial in respect max speed on the front straight. Truthfully, it's time to invest in a data logger...! - bobt993 - 06-15-2012 Eric, There are a couple of lines through there that work. Straight in lining up with the opening in the wall extends the braking zone. Trail a bit for rotation. The bottom has a bit more camber, but the biggest reason I stay lower is potential debris and marbles up high with little room for error. Banked turns have multiple lines that work well depending on the car. You can push the car to the absolute limit when you leave a margin of room to the outside. |
