My recent post "More Air" featuring some very impressive aerobatics attracted a number of comments; "look at the eyes" and Jack remarked "it brings a whole new meaning to the word drifting".

So I went back to my archives, (yes, you have archives when you are my age!) and found a photo which may be of interest. It shows Ron Flockhart a Scottish racing driver who won Le Mans in 1956 and '57, in  real four wheel drift at Silverstone (1956). He is driving the Ecurie Ecosse D-type Jaguar. He wrote a message on the photo to the team "You blokes don't know a drift when you see one". Look at the eyes. A very talented driver who was killed attempting to set a new flying record to Australia. The sister car to this D-Type was sold at auction in 2000 for $4 million.

I hope the zip file with the phote opens and yes, it was black and white in those days!
