Summit Hotel Recommendations - larrybard - 09-22-2013 I just tried to make reservations for the October Summit DE, at Hampton in Innwood, which is where I usually stay, and was told that they have been booked up for months due to another event. What alternative(s) are recommended -- the Hampton in Winchester? Thanks, Larry RE: Summit Hotel Recommendations - Bill Lehman - 09-23-2013 I was just in the area shooting a 3 Gun match and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, 142 Fox Lane, Winchester and had a pleasant stay. The free breakfast wasn't bad. I've also stayed at the Hampton Inn @ North Winchester. RE: Summit Hotel Recommendations - Phokaioglaukos - 09-23-2013 Our DE weekend coincides with a three gun shoot so the Inwood Hampton Inn filled. I'm staying at the Hampton Inn on Berryville Road in Winchester, right off I-81. It's been a few years since I've been there, but I stayed there regularly until the Inwood HH was built. RE: Summit Hotel Recommendations - larrybard - 09-23-2013 Chris, I'm also now booked at the same Winchester Hampton (on Berryville Ave.) -- but all they really had was a "smoking" room, so I'm afraid I might die (or at least feel awful and hardly sleep), and may therefore check out the place Bill recommended and see if it's not too far, and has nonsmoking rooms available. Larry RE: Summit Hotel Recommendations - Phokaioglaukos - 09-23-2013 I would NEVER take a smoking room. RE: Summit Hotel Recommendations - larrybard - 09-23-2013 Chris, That's why I've had second thoughts and am looking at the Holiday Inn Express that Bill suggested on Fox[ridge] Lane. [How come your posts are timestamped a few hours later than actual time?] RE: Summit Hotel Recommendations - cjbcpa - 09-24-2013 I'm staying at the Travelodge in Winchester. May not be quite as nice as a Holiday Inn or Hampton Inn, but I've stayed there a couple times now and it's comfortable, convenient and also includes breakfast. Other 'toter's us it and it's pretty cheap too. CB RE: Summit Hotel Recommendations - larrybard - 09-24-2013 Chris B, Thanks for the suggestion. I just booked a room there @$54.67/day. Down I-81 just past Martinsburg (before Inwood), take Rt 9 East: http://goo.gl/maps/1UvtF ... then drive through Charlestown down Summit Point Road (Rt 13) to get to the track: http://goo.gl/maps/YjIq9 Have Fun! Make sure you set your alarm if you nap in the car between sessions! RE: Summit Hotel Recommendations - larrybard - 09-30-2013 Thanks Beth. I appreciate the additional information. But I have ultimately decided upon Travelodge accommodations (even though Hampton Inn finally found a nonsmoking room for me). Looks like the lowest rate now available at the Holiday Inn Express you suggested is average of $127/night (probably not including tax), whereas I got a Travelodge daily rate of $55. And you know how cheap I am. Hope I'll see you at Summit. Larry |
