Winner at NASA Spec E30 race at Lightning! - StoogeMoe203 - 07-29-2014

Since my car doesn't have a cage yet, I decided to do some racing in a BMW Spec E30. I did my comp school at Thunderbolt back in May, and just did my second race weekend at Lightning last weekend. I finished second on Saturday and got the win on Sunday. I should have won on Saturday, but got pushed off the track, and spun into the tire wall. I fought back, but could only manage second, about 2 seconds behind the leader.

The only reason I had a chance was that the real fast guys weren't there. The turnout was lighter than usual, so they put all the classes together. That made for some busy racing for us slower cars. Thanks to RTR for making me feel comfortable running with faster cars. I'm used to looking in my mirrors!

After a crappy start in the Sunday race, I had a real battle with the Saturday winner. A spec Miata got in the mix too. We changed the lead at least 5 times. You only have to watch the first 10 laps until I finally get past them and break away into the lead.

That was a blast! I should be ready for PCA racing soon.

Who knew? Mild mannered Porsche Instructor Jim Mertz transforms into super BMW racer. And now we all know your true identity. No reason to wear those glasses anymore.

Job well done! You have represented RTR in a proud manner. And I'll bet you had a ton of fun to boot!
