Question about how safety tech days work for DE days? - GetBoosted - 04-20-2016 Hi everyone, I am curious how things typically go if you go to the tech day determined for a DE day (example being the upcoming safety tech date at Dougherty Automotive). So with those type of tech days, do you bring evidence of a recent brake fluid change & other things already set up or do you need to run through a fluid change while you are there? Basically I'm just curious how that typically goes. When I've done non-PCA events I've just set up an appointment with a local shop and they did a once over on the car based on the tech sheet & did a brake bleed while there. Thanks in advance! Chris RE: Question about how safety tech days work for DE days? - cmac - 04-22-2016 Chris, You arrive as close to the opening time as you can and you're put in line in order of arrival. Once a lift is clear, one of the RTR safety inspectors will go over the car with you and review all the details. If you have a receipt showing when your brakes were flushed, that's great. Many people do their own brake work and this is also permitted if you have the capability--ask your inspector for details. (Time and space considerations would probably prevent you from flushing your brakes at the site, but you might be able to make arrangements by e-mailing safety@rtr-pca.org if you have no other options.) The inspection process goes through each point on the tech form you can find on our website and usually takes around 15-20 minutes. Once your car is finished, you're free to leave or hang around, check out the other cars, and chat with the drivers. The donation fee of $20 covers everything, and if you arrive early enough there's usually coffee and donuts. All in all, a much better deal than paying a shop to do it! Hope this answered your questions... RE: Question about how safety tech days work for DE days? - GetBoosted - 04-22-2016 That helps a ton! Much appreciated for the details. RE: Question about how safety tech days work for DE days? - cmac - 04-24-2016 One more thing... Don't forget to print and bring a copy of the tech inspection form from the website! RE: Question about how safety tech days work for DE days? - GetBoosted - 04-24-2016 Got it. Thanks! |
