2021 AX Car Classification (Action Required) - SomebodyDial911 - 04-06-2021 Autocrossers, We are excited to note that we will be piggybacking on the Zone 8 autocross classification system this year to provide a highly organized, simple, and fair way to class our cars for the 2021 RTR Autocross Championship Cup Series. The Zone 8 team has done a truly incredible job with this, so kudos to them. What you need to do to class your car: - Go to http://zone8.pca.org/CarClass/Default.aspx - Create an account. While doing so, please choose "other" for region, and do not enter a preferred car number (we don't want to create any confusion for the Zone 8 classifications). - Go to the "Menu" drop-down in the navigation bar and select "Add car" - Follow the instructions! - Follow If you have a question about the process along the way, try starting here: http://zone8.pca.org/CarClass/About.aspx - Once your car has been classed, please confirm so by replying to this forum with your classification. We can then search the Zone 8 page to get additional detail on your class. What do we do with this information? - We all drive cars with different power, weight, tire, aero, and suspension dynamics. Car classification allows us to put everyone on an "even playing field" by controlling for the relative advantages and disadvantages of our cars. Autocross is all about being the best driver, so car classification effectively allows us to isolate the driver's performance, as best we can. How does car classification translate to race times? - The raw race times for each car are multiplied by the PAX factor for that car's class. This results in an adjusted time that is ultimately used for racking and stacking drivers in the final race results for the event. It is that easy! Am I required to class my car, even if I don't think I will be driving in enough events to be competitive in the Championship Cup Series? Yes! Keep in mind that your performance impacts the race results of other drivers, in terms of their relative performance and, thus, how many race points they earn at each event. Therefore, it is imperative that all drivers submit a car classification to ensure that we can evaluate the race results fairly, and in their entirety. What do I do if I have a question about - or disagree with - my classification? We realize that the classification selections can sometimes be ambiguous, and that the classifications may not appear to be fair in every instance. There is no perfect system, but we believe the Zone 8 system is the best there is. If you have any questions, please post a reply to this thread, and we will walk through your questions and concerns. If you'd prefer to keep your question or complaint confidential, please don't hesitate to email the RTR autocross chair directly at autocross@rtr-pca.org. Why are we changing the classification system for the 2021 season? The classification system we have used for the last several years was from the PCA Golden Gate Region and has been discontinued. The PCA Golden Gate Region is now using the PCA Zone 8 classification system which follows a similar concept, and we have decided to make this change also. Thank you all for your attention to this. Please be sure to follow these steps before our first event! "Rocket" Dan RE: 2021 AX Car Classification (Action Required) - DonE2014 - 04-07-2021 CC07 for me.
